Moving Tips
To save money on your move, pack your boxes
yourself. Moving companies will do this for you if you like but expect to
pay for it.
Consider having a garage sale before your
move. Don't pack up all that junk. By selling your unwanted property you
will make your move easier and cheaper.
Contact your utility companies at least two
weeks before your move to arrange disconnect and connection appointments.
Do not over pack your boxes. Try to keep the
weight below 50 pounds. Mark your boxes by the room they are going to to
make it easier to unpack when you reach your destination.
Get plenty of moving supplies well in advance
of your move. You will most likely need more moving boxes and packing tape
than you think.
Keep important papers and valuables with you.
To prevent them from getting lost in a move, pack your important papers
like birth certificates and social security cards in a separate box and
move it yourself. Keep your valuable jewelry and silverware packed
separately as well. Most movers are very ethical but accidents do happen. |
